Where to find essence of undeath

Undeath is particularly easy to come by so it may be a way to get more rare essences that you need. But people do get them.

They are non-elite mobs and easy kills. I got 2 in about 15 kills, must be very lucky because they're not even listed above as a drop source. Comment by Thottbot The drop rate on these suck. Been looking for 12 to do my robe of the void. I refuse to pay 12g each for these things. Farming um.. Maybe one in zg, as for them droping off scorges is crap too.. They need to fix this drop rate.. Im about to give up.. Comment by Thottbot you're probably mistaking the ichor of undeath. If I had to guess, I'd say that Stratholme would be the best place to get this, but I imagine it's still not as common a drop as it used to be.

Comment by I picked up one of these in Scholomance last night while farming loot drops to level my enchanting, but I'm not exactly sure what it dropped from I know that's not very helpful. I just wanted to mention it so that people know it's still in the game, it just appears that the drop rate is abysmally low at this point, since I've cleared Scholomance three or four times and only got one drop.

I hadn't even realized that I picked it up AoE farming and grabbing everything until I got back to civilization and was cleaning out my bags. I think Blizz still has some tuning to do to the drop rates for old-world materials. Huge drop in the rate since pre-Shattering. Simply huge. Haven't had a chance to try the Highbourne side of DM yet.

Guess that's next on my list. Edit: another full clear of both sides. Got 4 Righteous Orbs, no essences. Unless the Highborne ghosts in Winterspring or Silithus drop it now, I can't even imagine where to get it at this point. Comment by Greeting's all I've had trouble finding this item. I went through the the beginning of scholomance and found one essence of undead. I actually found it from a zhoul the one's that walk around randomly I then went outside to farm but had no luck.

Its seems that the drop rate has significantly change since cataclysm. Comment by Alright, so I've been looking for Essence of Undeath all day, and my best luck was in Strat. I was getting one every other run off of the Banshee boss, Baroness Anastari.

I got 2 from her only out of the whole instance, after 4 runs. Hope that helps. Comment by Greken Ay after much runing around in higher end classic places trying to get these to drop was a pain.

The only thing that is actualy decent to do is farm the banshe boss in strat or just do strat overall since in about 10 runs i have got 3 essence so its LOW drop rate but hell atlest thay aint removed ;P.

Comment by Dractulamede The essence of undeath is one of the ingredients in the lifestealing weapon enchant, one of the more popular enchants. Following some of the previous suggestions, I ran Strat three times with an 82 DK and got none. Following other suggestions, I ran the back entrance straight to Baroness Anastari, dragging every mob from the gate to her stairs which was fun-looked like a madhouse with my army of the dead running around.

I reset the instance each time and ran it until I got the message "You have entered too many instances recently", which I believe was four runs. No essences dropped. The next day I decided to try Scholomance as others had suggested. Got one right away from a spectral tutor in the main study area.

Got one from one of the reanimated corpses that inhabit the area where Janice Barov is. I got another from the big boss Lord Alexi Barov. Got one from a Risen Bonewarder in the room where Lady Barov is.

Looks like Scholo will be my place to farm these. Comment by Just did a full run of Scholomance and it didn't drop a single Essence. I want to try Strat but i don't want not sure if i have the patience to run it today. I might try another day. Comment by As far as I can tell this no longer drops as of at least 4. That being said, if you can find a source of Essence of Water some fishing pools I expect that an Alchemist could xmute water to undeath.

For now these are selling for - g each on the server. Comment by I had 2 drop from trash about 6 mobs in at Stramholme march 26th, patch 4. I went there after Scholomance, which I ran the whole dungeon without any drop. Try Stratholme first imo,. Comment by pardis Hey guys just wanted to let you all know that a similar problem has risen with Felcloth. I saw a couple of comments mentioning that they filed a ticket for this in game and that the GM forwarded it to development. Maybe we can do the same thing for this?

I for one am going to file a ticket right now. Maybe if enough people do it we can have the drop rate back to normal again. Comment by tapehands Just cleared up to the second boss on the undead side of strat and finally had my first essence drop from one of the level 49 banshees.

Prior to this, I tried farming Zul'Mashar for about 10 minutes with zero drops. As is pretty obvious by now, drop rates on this item have been terribly nerfed, making leveling to jewelcrafting a huge pain. At this point, sucking it up and taking the chance that I won't get a skill up from one of the yellow recipes almost seems like a better use of my time. Comment by cherme I cleared both Scholo and Strat 2x each today and only came away with one essence.

I was told to make a suggestion in the appropriate WoW forum and I am encouraging you all to do the same so that Blizzard can tweak these random drops to the new npc levels. Comment by seitori It would seem at some point perhaps with the 4. My guild and I have seen a few of these drop from NPCs that did not drop them before.

Comment by cefm Lots of out-of-date posts on Strat and Scholo, looks like. The "drops from" tab seems more current, indicating it drops from undead in Eastern Plaguelands. Worth looking into. I got 3 within about 15 minutes of farming them. Took about 30 flayers before a drop. I got the 3 drops. Comment by kyttyn I've gathered a couple from the Scourge Champions in EPL 35, 45 , though it seems to be a rather low drop. I also picked up one off a Spectral Tutor in Scholomance.
