The problem comes up when you start dealing with transcendental numbers tan, sin, cos, etc. Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes. I think within a few minutes any student would reasonably agree that the function whose domain is [0,1] is bounded and if a function on 0,1 is unbounded it's because the function approaches infinity at either 0 or 1, but nowhere else.

It all goes back to the rectangles from the wikipedia page. I do agree with you on the infinite sums though! Show 2 more comments. Meower68 Meower68 2 2 bronze badges. Rene Schipperus Rene Schipperus If you're using all your time just keeping up with the algebra, you won't be able to pay attention to the calculus.

I never had a college professor that didn't take the time to help me with what I was missing. And I have 3 degrees.

To be serious, the fact that you have 3 degrees says that you are willing to sign up for more. In modern terminology you are a repeat customer. Of course they will be nice to you, they are grooming you. Also in modern terminology: respect. Show 3 more comments. Upcoming Events. Featured on Meta. Now live: A fully responsive profile. If you think you need to have a solid foundation with the former, you will certainly need it with the latter. These gaps accumulate and with each consecutive class.

First, fill any gaps in your math knowledge that may be essential to learning Calculus. This means Algebra and Trigonometry. Do this before your Calculus course begins. Do your best to learn the assignment list for the list so you can start getting ahead on your homework. Yes, you heard that right. At least not if you want to really excel. Not much. More importantly, you have some room just in case of some sort of emergency.

Stuff does happen. If you like to brush up on Algebra and Trig, there are some great resources in my article above. After you brush up on the basics, it would also give you a serious competitive advantage to read 4 the list below. Unfortunately, this is completely incorrect. You must learn a whole new set of tools, and a whole new approach to problem solving involving multiple steps.. Calculus is going to teach you a new way of thinking and of looking at mathematics and at nature itself.

In Calculus, you are going to solve multi-faceted problems unlike previous mathematical studies except geometry. The solution of many problems will involve trigonometry, geometry and algebra and calculus. Makes it fun and so much easier. Especially distance learning. My grade has improved significantly since I subscribed to Calcworkshop.

I like the section on graphing functions. My Trig teacher showed us short cuts and they are super confusing. Jen showed a step by step solution to graphing the functions. She is consistent and clear. I was even second guessing taking an Online Calculus class in the Summer. But now that I have Calcworkshop I am going for it. Jenn's enthusiasm really helps keep the topics interesting. Very well done site. She provides some great examples and is very well organized.

Thanks Jenn! Plus she provides more the why behind why problems are solved they way they are. This site is amazing, I really enjoy how the professor works out problem. Great Job!! I totally recommend this site!! I was working through Khan Academy at the age of 29 and got lost. Enter Jenn! If she can teach my brain to like math, she can teach anyone to understand and then some. This course made Calc so easy.
